François Lavallée

François Lavallée, LL.B. is retired from National Bank Financial Group (NBF) where he worked from 2003 to 2022. He was Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs, and, as Head of Legal, was responsible for all legal matters pertaining to Financial Markets and Wealth Management activities across NBF, and more particularly, full-service brokerage, wealth management, portfolio management activities, trust and custodial services, discount brokerage and mutual fund distribution. Prior to joining NBF, he practiced with two major law firms in the fields of civil and commercial litigation and commercial insurance and was involved in a number of complex litigations as well as class actions.

Mr. Lavallée joined the Advisory Committee for Vulnerable Clients in 2017, at the invitation of the Minister responsible for Seniors. This mandate consists of advising the Québec Government on any issues pertaining to material and financial abuse of Seniors in the Province of Québec.

Mr. Lavallée was a member of the Québec District Council (QDC) of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). He acted as Vice‐President and President of the QDC from 2011 to 2016, and as Vice‐Chair and Chair of IIROC’s National Advisory Committee from 2013 to 2016.
